GALLIPOLI-ON THE HEIGHTS OF CHUNUK BAIR

Turkisk sacrifice-names of their fallen in hillside cemetery

Looking down to Anzac Cove.Such a long way down but not much forward.The Kiwis got this far but exhausted british new army troops and Australians were unable to hold it under overwhelming suicidal Turkish wave attacks.Groups of defenders were wiped out completely.Had these heights been held by the allies they would have had total command of the peninsula.
