It's almost that "one Day of the year" again and how different is the public response to it than the cynical, pacifistic disdain that pervaded much of the popular feeling towards Anzac Day in the late 60s, when I first came to an Australia committed to the vietnam war. Most marked is the changed attitude of the young who in growing numbers are making the pilgrimage to Gallipoli, Fromelles, Villers- Bretonneux and the Koda track.
I have only been to two dawn services-the warm Pacific one described in an earlier posting and a much chillier one at the Melbourne Shrine of Rememberance.Maybe I will set my alarm and go again tomorrow.
