The Cruiser Aurora from which a blank shot signalled the commencement of the storming of the winter palace in 1917. The ship was sunk during the Nazi siege to preserve it for subsequent re-floating as a national monument on water. Sailors went on to provide the revolution with some of its more militant shock troops
